2008 Quilt Show Committee Meeting Minutes Saturday, July 14, 2007. Attendees: Janet Coggins, Sara Epley, Olivia Grindheim, Donna Hurley, Mary Ellen Johnson, Cindy McVey, Jean Middleswarth, Evelyn Pipkin, Doris Williams, Ann Woods, Elaline Nelson. There was a discussion of what to offer in the way of donation quilts, raffle quilts and the Country Store. Several members suggested a theme for the 2008 show and the Committee voted unanimously to accept “One Hundred Years and Beyond Quilt Show,” suggested by Ann Woods. Ann will receive $50 for her suggestion. A motion was made by Jean Middleswarth and seconded by Evelyn Pipkin that someone outside the Guild be selected as the judge for our show. A discussion followed, and it was decided that if an exchange cannot be made with another Guild, we set a limit of $100 for the judge. Motion was amended and seconded, carried by a show of hands. There was a discussion as to how many categories would be allowed. Since no decision could be made until the Guild knows more about the actual size and layout of the facility, Mary Ellen Johnson and Elaine Nelson agreed to survey the area and report back at the next Quilt Show Committee meeting. This item was tabled until that time. It was decided that the Country Store would be at the entrance/exit to the show. Members will be asked to donate hand-made items to sell. See Jean Middlewarth for further details. Vendor booths will be 10’ x 10’. Cost is $150 for the two days of the show. Since there was no further Show business to discuss, a motion to adjourn was made and seconded. The vote was unanimous. Respectfully submitted, Evelyn Pipkin, 2008 Quilt Show Secretary |
