Quilt Camp
Three times each year we rent the Tecumseh City Hall for a patterns, and food, and for three days we
share ideas, sew, visit and eat from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m.. There is a vendor at
each camp, with fabrics, notions, patterns, books, etc. for us to purchase. Cost for each camp is $25. Our
final camp date for this year is October 20-21-22.
DOODLES FROM DORIS
Thank you, Mary, for doing a great job at last month's meeting;! heard lots of good comments on Joe
and Gary's program. Also, about our new meeting room — if you arrive late or can't do stairs, please park
on the West side of the street, on the West side of the church building. Come across to the door which is
the sec-
and one from the front of the church. We will have a sign on the door. After the meeting starts, the upstairs
door will be locked, blocking access to other parts of the church.
As always, Donna did a great job at Quilt Camp. Thanks to Tribby for her sweatshirt class. We should
see lots of pretty jackets this Fall. We had 30 campers and four new members. LaVonne won the basket of
122 fat quarters! Jean, Evelyn, Betty, Pamela and Tammy also won fat quarters in the Bingo games.
Thanks
to Gail for donating fat quarters; we were sorry you couldn't stay.
Heather hit a milestone at camp, finishing the quilting on her king-size quilt. Tammy completed her
first Christmas wall hanging.
In this newsletter is a list of our Guild officers for next year. We still need someone to be in charge of
the Habitat quilt, and will need another Board member. We also need someone to do a Guild scrapbook
and
someone to make a scrapbook about the quilt shows. We will vote on these officers at the September
meeting,
and they will take office in October.
We are happy to see Jean Middleswarth back. We missed you, and glad California didn't keep all of
you!
Now to an unpleasant subject. It has come to my attention that at the last two camps, some catty and
unkind remarks were made about some of the quilters. Ladies, it doesn't take any more effort to say some-
thing nice than to be ugly— or just don't say anything at all. Quilting crosses all lines: tall, short, fat, skinny,
rich or poor. We want to reach 100 members for our 20th anniversary, but it is discouraging to get new
mem-
bers when a few unkind remarks run them off. Please treat others the way you would want them to treat
you.

QUILT SHOWS—PAST AND FUTURE
Cindy is on vacation and not available to give a report on the Quilt Show Com- mittee meeting last week, but she will be back in Mid-August and hopefully will have a complete report for the next newsletter. The Committee will meet again on August 19 at 10:00 a.m. at the Shawnee Library. Everyone is welcome to attend these meetings, whether or not you are on the Committee. We are discussing plans for next year's quilt show and future shows, and your input and assistance is welcome.
— A NOTE FROM YOUR NEWSLETTER EDITOR Thanks to some help from knowledgeable friends, we may have worked out enough "bugs" +I will be able to e-mail the newsletter to those who want to receive it in that way. I have sent e-mails with the newsletter attached, and so far have heard from only one person, saying she could open and read it. Several people are out of town, so I will probably go ahead and mail to everyone once again. I am still working on some techniques, but it is looking possible. Again let me say that if you are interested, please send me an e-mail with that request. I will have your cor- rect e-mail address and will know for sure that's what you want. Thanks for your patience as I try to learn this technology. Betty
