Sayings from Cindy:
Hi fellow quilters !! Here it is June already. Back to school supplies are showing up in stores, we are making Christmas Tree Skirts with Elva at the Library and before you know it, summer’s over and Christmas is coming. I’m already behind....at least the time really is going faster for me this year. It’s not too early to be making plans for your projects to do at quilt camp. And of course, figuring out what goodies you will bring to eat and share. I don’t know about you but 3 whole days of uninterrupted sewing with good friends and food is my favorite thing! It’s the perfect time to start and maybe finish a Christmas project or two. Or it’s a great time to do something just for you instead of everyone else! I’m lucky since I don’t have to worry what my “family” is eating at home while I’m at quilt camp. Daryl likes to piece as much as I do now so he comes to camp too. The rest of my family knows not to call during those 3 days. Even tho cell phone reception has improved in the building, I haven’t told them. This way I don’t even get any phone calls. It’s the best low cost vacation I can have! Well, gotta’ go run the quilting machine. I’ve got a gorgeous antique quilt to get done. See you at the July Meeting if not before............
Cindy

BOOK-NOTES FROM KAREN PATTON, SSQG LIBRARIAN:
Did you enjoy our program last month on Depression Era Quilts? Did you also know we have a book titled “Egg Money Quilts” in our library? This is an Eleanor Burns book featuring Sampler Quilts made with feed sacks or 30’s reproductions or maybe you have a secret stash of the real thing. In the Student Gallery section of the book, you will find these traditional blocks in Batiks and 1860 reproduction fabrics. Since it is an Eleanor Burns book, you can be sure her methods and tips will make construction much easier than the 1930’s methods. And if you adhere to Eleanor’s methods, you might make these quilts the week before quilt camp. That way you can pack camp projects and equipment in the car on Thursday morning. It will make it much easier to clean up all those scraps you and Eleanor tossed over your shoulder!
BABY QUILT NEWS: I received 9 quilts at the June meeting and have already labeled them and taken them to Baby First. They were very complimentary and glad to receive them. They have changed their way of getting in so that I have to go into the main part of the Health Department and the ladies out there are very complimentary so I don't get to see the ones that actually give the quilts away. Thanks everyone for the quilts. Mary Bergsten
QUILT CAMP NEWS -- from Darla Vorholt
HELLO, ladies. It is time (July 11, 12 and 13) for another Quilt Camp at the Tecumseh City Hall. We will play Fat Quarter Bingo (Bring your fat quarters to play.) and have a drawing for fat quarters we collect over the 3 days of Camp. The drawing will be at 1:00pm on Sunday. You must be present to win. I think the Pot Luck at the last camp worked well. So I thought we would try it again for Friday and Saturday. On Sunday, we could order Pizza in or brown bag it or whatever! We will talk about it Saturday. Or if any one has any ideas, let me know at 598-6323. I will be showing you how to make a pillow case with NO raw seams and NO serger needed. You will need a main fabric (27 inches by WOF), 3 inches by WOF for trim and 10 inches by WOF for band. I have a bag I made a pattern for taken from a plastic bag. It was fun to make. You will need ½ yard of two (2) different fabrics, if you would like to do this bag project. If anyone has a small project you think people would like to make, let me know. I am very open to ideas SEE YOU AT CAMP, Darla
WAYS AND MEANS REPORT
Only three (3) more months until our QUILT SHOW! ! ! ! We are not ready.
We will be scheduling a workshop at the Library towards the end of July. I have several projects that need to be finished up. Bring your sewing machines, cutters and other basics. Maybe some things can be done at Quilt Camp, if you would Iike something different to work on. Karen’s small book cover "to go" is great. I could use more of those. We have lots of finished quilts for the auction, lots of tissue holders and 2 or 3 scrap bags made. I will bring the stuff to work with. Ann Woods is the one-in-charge of the baked goods and recipes. The one thing I still need is old MAGAZINES AND PATTERNS to sell at the Quilt Show Country Store. With only a little over two months left until the Quilt Show don't put off doing these things any longer.
Thanks, Jean Middleswarth, Ways & Means Chairman
Block of the Month Information from Mary Ellen Johnson
Ladies, the last installment of the Block of the Month will be in August, so get your blocks ready for assembly. If you missed the Guild meeting last month and didn't get your Segment #4, I will have all the Block of the Month patterns at Quilt Camp – July 11-13.
WEAR YOUR NAME BADGES!
Please remember to wear your name badges for two reasons: (1) If you don’t, you must deposit $.25 in the piggy. (2) New members, guests and those of us with memory lapses will appreciate it!
THINGS TO REMEMBER FOR ALL MEMBERS:
Remember to help pick up after the meetings. Put your trash (cups, plates, napkins, etc.) in the trash containers before leaving for the evening. It is such a beautiful new facility. We must do our part to keep it that way. In September, 2007, if you checked out a quilt packet from the Guild’s free fabric kits, you need to finish it and have it ready for the Quilt Show. If you can’t quilt it yourself, see if one of your long-arm quilting friends can help. Time is running out ladies. Time to finish this project and turn it in to Ann Woods. Have you gotten your tickets from Jean Middleswarth for the Quilt Show Raffle Quilt? “It is a beauty!” Get your tickets, sell them then turn the money into Jean as soon as possible. This is one of the Guild fund raisers for the year. Sell all you can to help the Guild.
If anyone would like to submit information for next month’s newsletter, please call or email Donna Wingo (405) 257–3689 or email at: wingo@suddenlink.net Share with us like Elaine and Alma did this month.
Thanks for your help in these matters. They are very important to the Guild.

Tips of the Month - Tracing Patterns and More
To make tracing a pattern from a book easier, use a warm dry iron to lightly press a piece of freezer paper directly onto the page. The paper won't slip as you trace and the freezer paper will peel off without leaving a residue. Tired of your bobbins unwinding and making an absolute mess in your sewing area? Go to the hardware store and buy 1/2" OD clear tubing. Cut it off in widths the size of the open sides of your bobbin, then cut the circle open. Wrap these around your bobbins - no more unraveling! Tip from member, Elaine Nelson is to use masking tape that has been wound backwards over your hand (sticky side out) to pick up all those pesky stings from one’s self or from the sewing room floor. Thanks for sharing with us, Elaine. Tip from member, Alma Barnes For the shopping quilter (and aren’t we all) Buy one of the cheap little 4 x 6 photo albums from (where else) Wal-Mart. Then you will have a place for all kinds of things for your shopping trip. Scraps of fabric for a project, short lists that don’t get lost, lists of yardage needed, etc. That way they are all together and each in their only section. You can even make a cover for it if you would like another project. Thanks for sharing with us, Alma
Let’s take a poll ! ! ! !
Who has the software program, Electric Quilt?
Do you like it? YES or NO
Do you really use it? YES or NO
If so, how often?
I know that Elva Newell has and uses Electric Quilt. How many more of you do? Tell us about it.
Cut this section off and give to Donna Wingo for the newsletter. What gadget do you have that you can’t live or sew without?
What has been your favorite quilt pattern? Maybe you have made it more than once.
How many UFO’s do you have? Bet you can’t beat me? I have 53 UFO’s.
These members will receive a birthday fat quarter cupcake if they are present at the July meeting.
Several of you didn’t list a birthday in your member profile. We can’t make you a birthday present if we don’t know when your birthday is! (Not the year, just the month and day.)
Thoughts and Prayers for the following members:
