and food, and for three days we share ideas, sew, visit and eat from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m.. There is
a vendor at each camp, with fabrics, notions, patterns, books, etc. for us to purchase. Cost for each
camp is $25. Our final camp date for this year is October 20-21-22.

DOODLES FROM DORIS

Hello, ladies. Fall is in the air after such a hot summer. What fun was our September program! Hadn ’ t
laughed so hard in a long time; Jim gave us permission to let down our rules and have good fun. Great
job, Mary. Please remember Olivia Grindheim, who had gall bladder surgery last week, and Opal Locke,
who has requested your prayers for health matters. The man who sharpens scissors at QuiltWorks will
be at our October quilt camp on Saturday only. His fees are $3 and up. Becky from Chickasha will be
vendor at the October camp. Countywide News should be there sometime Saturday to do a story.
Wanzalle is working to get our guild certified as a non-profit organization. This will allow us to apply for
grants, among other advantages. One of the lawyers Wanzalle works with is doing this pro bono , so we
will only have to pay for the filing fees. There will be an Executive Board meeting during camp at 9 a.m.
Saturday, October 21, in the Mayor ’ s Meeting Room of the Tecumseh City Hall. All guild members are
welcome to attend; it won ’ t take up much of your sewing time. Keep Sewing, Doris *****NOTICE***** A
reminder — our October meeting will be held in the cafeteria at Liberty Baptist Church, 711 East
Federal in Shawnee. We will have a pot-luck supper and exchange pot holders, so bring your favorite
dish to share and a pot holder wrapped, or in a gift bag so no one can see it before the ex- change.
The church will furnish tea, water, coffee, and eating utensils, and the guild will have plates, bowls, etc.;
come prepared to have a great time of fellowship!

The Quilt Show Committee held a brief meeting, and chose the theme for the 2007 show: “ Oklahoma
Quilts Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow ” Other action taken was a motion that any expense exceeding
$100 be presented to and approved by the committee prior to expenditure of funds. The motion passed.

6-1/2 ” blocks with a Christmas theme. For each block you bring to the December meeting, you may

HAPPY OCTOBER BIRTHDAY TO: Glenda Snyder (3); Hanna Costerisan (14); and Evelyn Pipkin (14).
These people will receive a birthday fat quarter cupcake if they are present at the October meeting.
Approximately ten guild members didn't’ t list their birthday on the enrollment form. We can ’ t make you
a birthday present if we don ’ t know when your birthday is!

UPDATE ON CALEB GRAY In last month ’ s newsletter, I mistakenly reported that Caleb had a broken
leg; it was actually a bone in his foot. His mother sent a very amusing update this last week. It seems
Caleb was trying to skip on his way in to the doctor ’ s office. When she told him she didn't think that was
such a good idea, since he was to have no PE or recess for six weeks, he asked if he could run or jog!
That little guy sure isn't ’ t letting anything get him down. His blood counts have remained steady, and
that is a good thing. He is on the national Make-A-Wish website and will be on the 2007 calendar.
Shanna is gathering information on how we can get copies of the calendar.

SPECIAL NOTICE Last week, while Evelyn was working with the library at the church, one of the ladies
from the kitchen brought her a pin that had been found after one of our meetings. The pin has three
small charms, one being a pair of scissors. Evelyn has locked the pin in the library cabinet, and the
owner can claim it

PLEASE NOTE: Since the newsletter is now being put on the website, we will not be listing the
addresses, phone numbers and e-mail addresses of members, including changes of address. New
rosters will be out in January. Until then, if you need to contact a member and don ’ t have the current
roster, please contact one of the officers. Thanks, Betty

SPINNING SPOOLS TO THE RESCUE!! After receiving a rather frantic phone call from the director at
Sterling House Alterra Nursing Home, Cindy McVey quickly gathered quilts from Betty, Elva and
LaVonne and managed to hang a great quilt show to replace one they had advertised and which had
not developed. Thanks, Cindy!

I received this just now from Shanna Gray, Caleb’s mom.  I know your prayers for Caleb re appreciated.

Sending a note to let you know some news that we got last night.  Caleb's spinal tap on Tuesday had
some abnormal cells in it.  They are not definitely leukemia cells but they are not normal.  The doctor
said that we have to wait 3-4 weeks and we will do another spinal tap and see what it shows.  Until then
we will do exactly what we have been doing and not change what were to do.  If the test in 3-4 weeks is
good then we will keep doing what we are doing.  If it is bad then he will have relapsed and that will
change our treatment plan.  The doctor said if we have any different symptoms before the 3-4 weeks
then we will make some changes then.  Some of you may remember Mikey one of our roommates in the
hospital last year.  He had leukemia cells in his spinal fluid and he had to have more chemo than the
usual amount and he had to undergo total body radiation.  Of course Lynn and I are very concerned
but there is nothing we can do until 3-4 weeks.  The kids are taking it okay.  Caleb did not have any
questions and does not seem upset.  Isaac and Rebecca have not said much but are concerned.   Just
keep us in your prayers and that God will give us peace during this time.  We will keep you guys
updated.
